BCIT Centre for Architectural Ecology Awards Scholarship and Research Grant - VPL Green RoofInterCoast Building Solutions is proud to be an industry partner with the BCIT Centre for Architectural Ecology and supports the Centre’s innovative research on green roof and living wall systems.

InterCoast would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ms. Sara Bergen, a 4th year student in the BCIT Architectural Science degree program and the recent recipient of the very first Cornelia Hahn Oberlander Scholarship and Research Grant. The $4000 grant, awarded in January 2012, was developed by the Centre for Architectural Ecology and its industry partners to inspire BCIT students to strive for the same level of achievement that Ms. Cornelia Oberlander has demonstrated in the field of architectural ecology.

The project is a preface to the proposed development of the Vancouver Public Library roof as accessible space. The research investigates the physical and sensory connectivity of the Vancouver Public Library green roof to potential rooftops developments as future habitable urban spaces in the surrounding community. Sara is now advancing the research project at the Centre with the supervision of Dr. Maureen Connelly, MAIBC.
